1How do I connect to the camera?
2What are the camera’s different operating modes?
The camera acts as an access point (like a router, for instance) and can also log in as a client to an existing WLAN (such as your company’s WLAN). Both modes are supported at the same time.
3Access via rotoclear0.local doesn’t work
This address requires the mDNS service. This is not activated or available on all systems by default. At present, it is only supported from the company by iOS. Windows does not support it. However, you can install Apple’s Bonjour service so that you can also use this function in Windows. The Bonjour service is also included in iTunes, for example. This address is composed of the current SSID with the extension “.local”.
4I can’t connect to the camera’s WLAN
Make sure that each device has a unique SSID. Be especially sure to check this if you have multiple Rotoclear vision cameras in use. Also make sure that you are within radio range of the camera and that the Rotoclear is switched on.
5How do I connect the camera to my existing WLAN?
The camera can be connected to an existing WLAN. Enter the SSID and the password for the network which the camera should connect to. You can determine whether the camera connects to the specified network by activating the corresponding option. The IP address allocated to the camera by the router or WLAN access point as well as the connection status will be displayed. For this purpose, a DHCP server will have to be executed on the router. This is normally the case. Otherwise, please contact your network administrator. The IP address displayed can also be used to access the camera’s web interface by way of the existing WLAN network.
6The camera is not connected to the company WLAN
Make sure that you have entered the access data correctly and that the quality of connection to the network is good. It must also be possible for the network’s DHCP server to allocate an IP address to the camera. Make sure that your company network does not have any access restrictions which would prevent a connection. When in doubt, contact your network administrator to do so.
7How can I update the firmware?
An update is provided in irregular intervals to update the firmware. The update can be loaded and installed automatically with the online update function. A prerequisite for this is that the camera is connected to an existing network with Internet access. The latest firmware can be alternatively downloaded under www.rotoclear.com and installed with a manual update.
8Why should I install an update?
We are constantly improving our camera and adding new functions. This ranges from support for additional standards, troubleshooting and stability improvements to optical improvements. We are also glad to have your feedback.
9Where can I download the latest firmware and what exactly will be improved?
You can install the firmware directly using the online update function, or download it here. The improvements are listed here.
10Can I monitor multiple streams at the same time?
We are currently in the process of implementing this function. Please have a bit of patience.
11The camera picture is upside down
You can rotate the camera picture in increments of 90°. This can be done in the settings under “Video”.
12The camera reports that only one client connection is supported
Since the bandwidth of WLAN networks is limited, but the video has to be streamed in real time, we have decided to allow only one connection per camera. For that reason, close all other browser windows or tabs in which the camera interface is open.
13How large is the camera?
Its dimensions are 80 x 38 x 12 mm.
14What kind of objective lens does the camera have?
The camera has a fixed focal width of f2.8 and an autofocus. The aperture angle is 68°.
15Can I adjust the camera?
Yes, the camera can be adjusted to the work area. This can be done vertically and horizontally in a range of approx. -30 to +30°. The camera picture can be rotated in 90° increments in the settings.
16Where does the camera get its power from and how should I supply it?
The camera requires 24V and is suppled directly by the Rotoclear S3. Its power consumption is 1.2W and its current consumption is 50mA.
17In which temperature range can I operate the camera?
The camera may be operated in the same temperature range as Rotoclear S3. The range of the operating temperature is +10 to + 60 ° C. The storage temperature is -20 to + 60 ° C.
18Is the camera watertight?
Partially: it is protected from spray water, but not from constant submersion. Since it is operated in Rotoclear, it cannot come into contact with coolant lubricants or oils – as long as the sealing air in Rotoclear is properly set. The sealing air must amount to at least 2 mbar at the connection box.
19What are the sealing air requirements for Rotoclear?
It is important for the sealing air to be free of oil and particles (the purity is defined as per ISO 8573-1:2010[3:4:3]). Otherwise, foreign particles may get into the device, in the best case impairing only vision, and in the worst case causing failure and damaging the device as well as the camera. The sealing air must amount to at least 2 mbar at the connection box.
20What languages are available?
The camera’s back-end is currently available in English, German and Japanese. The menu language can be selected and defined under “Language” in the settings.
